Description

Choose easily a favicon to make your site eye-catching and easily recognizable by visitors that have several windows opened on their navigator.

Most of websites don’t have favicon. Why? Because most of bloggers don’t know how to set it. This plugin will probably improve that.

You can choose to use as favicon :

  • your gravatar
  • a private icon
  • or an image from the Icon Set included

Check screenshots.

The Icon Set will be updated regularly with new images.

Important

Your gravatar will be displayed by all navigators… except by Internet Explorer that accepts only images with format .ico
The plugin will make appear on IE the icon you chose in the Icon Set. On others, your gravatar will appear.

Installation

  • 1. Extract favicons.zip in the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory.
  • 2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  • 3. Go to **Settings** and then **Favicons** to configure the plugin.

IE can’t display gravatars. It accepts only images with format .ico

Frequently Asked Questions

  • My Favicon comes up when I am in wordpress, but not on my website. How do I change it so it comes up when people go to my webpage?
The favicon doesn’t appear because you already have one in your wordpress theme. You have to edit the header file of your wordpress theme and delete the line containing the favicon.

hi Andrew. As IE is not really smart, you have to fill the icon adress completely : http://bajaartists.com/favicon.ico and not only /favicon.ico

    that’s IE…

I installed the favicon plugin, but I can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve uploaded my favicon into the same directory as the sample favicons that came with the plug in and selected it that way, did a hard reset of my browser, and nothing. I deleted the favicon from that directory uploaded it to the root directory and put the whole url to the favicon in the box, and still nothing. honestly I’m not sure that the problem is with the plug in because I also tried to set the favicon manually in the header.php, did a hard reset and still nothing. You have any idea what the problem might be?

Hi, Thank you for a great plugin. I have a question about using feedburner as an rss feed tool. I am trying to show my gravar in my reader when people subscribe to it. That is not working. Do you have a fix for that? Thanks again.

I agree with happy. The installation went great but would love for it to be visible to my RSS readers. Is there a fix for that little bug? Thanks for the great plug in.

I don’t understand WHAT to add, and exactly WHERE to add it to make the gravatar work as a favicon on your blog. I get it when I’m in dashboard, but not in the blog itself. WHAT should I add, and where in the « header editor » should I add it? Thanks in advance! :)

In attempting to use Favicons, I am unable to get the blog to display the favicon. It shows up in the admin panel, but not the blog. I am using the Ocean Mist 2.0 theme and there is no favicon reference in the header.php.

    Thanks
